Description
This fun seasonal knit is a recreation of the hat that Kevin wears throughout much of the beloved Christmas movie “Home Alone”. While specifically written for a Brother 4.5mm electronic standard gauge knitting machine with lace carriage, (I use a Brother 940 with Img2Track to import the pattern) with a couple of tweaks you could recreate this on any standard gauge machine – including a punch card machine. I have also knit it on a 5mm White (Superba) machine. If you do not have a lace carriage, you can do the transfers for the crown manually, it doesn’t take long at all.
This pattern has no shaping, but does require knowledge of your machine’s patterning capabilities, and use of a punch card or electronic pattern inputs. Suitable for advanced beginner or intermediate machine knitters.
This bundle includes the SVG files for the punch card for the fair isle moose design, as well as image files of the chart for use with electronic machines. As a bonus I have also included the SVG file and chart for the simple lace pattern for the crown.
Machine
• Standard gauge (4.5mm) machine with patterning capabilities. You do not need a ribber for this pattern. A lace carriage makes the transfers for the crown faster, but is not strictly necessary. The pattern has been written for use with a Brother machine, but can be adapted to other machines with fair isle patterning capabilities.
